The Office of Sustainability was created in the fall of 2007 at the recommendation of a Sustainability Strategy Working Group. As a part of the creation of the office, the University adopted a comprehensive Sustainability Strategy which sets ambitious goals over the next 20 years. The Office of Sustainability runs the LEV Preferred Parking program, the EV parking program, and campus' Zip Car program. They also run the Sustainability Commissioners and Green Ambassadors programs, the Green Office Program, GreeNDiscovery- the university's green labs program, and both the Green Loan Fund and the Eco Fund. Visit the office's website to learn about alternative energy sources, the LEED buildings on campus, campus metrics for recycling, water usage and carbon emissions, as well as the annual dorm energy reduction competition- Megawatt Madness.
