Notre Dame Credit and Placement Examinations

for First-Year Undergrads

The First Year of Studies administers placement and credit exams for mathematics and foreign languages. These exams are designed for the specific requirements of these math and foreign language courses at Notre Dame. Examinations for French, Spanish, German, and Latin are available online and should be taken during the summer before fall semester scheduling begins, or in the fall before spring semester scheduling begins. Examinations for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean will be given at 1:00 p.m. on the Friday of First Year Welcome Weekend. You must register to reserve a space to take these exams. The mathematics examination will be given at 1:00 pm on the Friday of First Year Welcome Weekend. You must register to reserve a space to take this exam. Students who receive credit through the Advanced Placement Program or the International Baccalaureate Program should not request to take the mathematics examination at Notre Dame.
