Science Course Descriptions

for First-Year Undergrad Students
Start Science Course Descriptions

Description

  • For Student

University requirement: All Notre Dame students must complete two courses in science.

The courses offered by the College of Science are broadly grouped into two main categories, laboratory sciences and topical sciences. The laboratory sciences are intended for students who are planning to major in one of the sciences or in engineering. You may also take one of these courses if you would prefer a more in-depth discussion of a particular field of study with a laboratory experience. Topical science courses are designed for students planning to enter the College of Arts and Letters, the School of Architecture, or the Mendoza College of Business; they are interdisciplinary and focus on themes that have an ethical or value-related dimension and do not include a laboratory experience.
